Sales and Indirect Tax Basics for Small Businesses
Hosted by OKSBDC This event is a collaboration between OKSBDC and our professional partners at BDO USA, LLP. This conversation will provide an overview of the some of the State and Local Tax (SALT) issues presented when you start doing business outside Oklahoma. In June of 2018 the U.S. Supreme Court issued its seminal decision in the Wayfair case, which resulted in a few changes. Listen and learn if your company should be collecting sales tax in other states. This presentation will be given in a format where you can understand them as a business person who is just trying to stay in compliance and will answer several questions around, Should I be charging sales tax outside of Oklahoma? Do I need to file in other states even if I’m not selling a taxable item? Does it matter if I have inventory in other states? Attendees will have the chance to ask the experts their small business questions and will receive a copy of the presentation.
Speaker(s): Tom Smith, BDO Southwest SALT Region Leader Tulsa Office Managing Partner
